My attitude started to change more whenever I attended each session and I started to have a more positive outlook towards the world. I really appreciate…everyone’s help and their time to make this program successful. (FROM AP STUDENT)
These people helped me to believe in my dreams and I know that I could fulfill my destiny if I wanted to. I now know that the only thing that is stopping me from doing this is myself because as Napoleon Hill said ‘what the mind of a man can conceive and believe, the mind of a man can achieve’. I shouldn’t take my eyes off my goals and should think that every problem I face is every step to success as ‘success tends to reveal itself when a person refuses to quit’. (FROM AP STUDENT)
I learnt lot of new skills: example, debating, study skills, communication skills etc… most of the lessons were motivational because we went through the reasons why we want to achieve our goals and how to achieve them. We learnt about how famous people- who are being admired by the world, gave up things to be where they are today. (FROM AP STUDENT)
This program was very unlike school. It got more entertaining as the weeks went by and everyone was treated with equal respect and had their points valued. I also think that the facilitators were good and I thought they were very professional. (FROM AP STUDENT)
I think that Attaining The Peak is a brilliant course and it should carry on for many years to come so that more and more people can benefit from it like I have. (FROM AP STUDENT)
In the first week of my Attaining The Peak experience I was a bit nervous because I didn’t know what to expect from the course and the mentors, also I didn’t know many people there. In that week we did lots of activities, firstly we all had to give each other information about ourselves so that everyone got to know each other; I think this was quite a good exercise because it boosted people’s confidence. We also had a talk about university, I found it very interesting and by the end of it I was certain that I am going to go to university. This week was the main reason why I kept going because it had such a great impact on the way I looked at life. I realised that I can achieve what I want if I work hard and that nothing can stop me except myself. (FROM AP STUDENT)
It showed us a life of someone working hard at school and the life of someone who just doesn’t try hard at all. I know which one I would rather be. (FROM AP STUDENT)
I thought it was a great course! (FROM A PARENT)
This programme has prepared all the children for the future. They have got the courage and the motivation to succeed in life. My observation is that they all seem to know what they want in life and I have not doubted any of them that they have seen the way forward in life’s attainment and they will all go for it.(FROM A PARENT)
Attaining the Peak has transformed my daughter... She is now well organised and articulate. I have seen the same changes in all the children from their speeches today. This is in sharp contrast to the day the programme was launched. (FROM A PARENT)
The programme was well run by dedicated staff… I commend the programme unreservedly... (FROM A PARENT)
The event was both inspiring and moving. It was particularly impressive that so many of the students had attended most of the sessions, and that they appeared to look back with sadness at having missed any. To keep this kind commitment going over such a period of time is great testimony to the programme. The students were also of varied age and it must have been difficult at first to get the group to bond – the helpers and organizers need to be congratulated on this, as well as on creating an obviously varied and stimulating programme. It was striking how the students said how unlike school the sessions were, and yet how many cited a ‘study skills’ session as one from which they learnt so much; this session obviously provided a ‘way in’ to many of the methodologies schools should be hoping to teach and which this alternative forum has succeeded in communicating. With regard to the ceremony in particular, I was impressed also by the varied manner and style of presentations given by the students. Each showed an independence of spirit in finding their own voice to express their thoughts on the programme rather than safely resorting to a common template - this perhaps evidence that they have been encouraged to learn and respond from within, rather than to confirm to an expected model.
The morning was lovely, a good mix of formal and informal and a great chance to involve the parents from whom so much of the support must come. I was honoured to be a part of it and hope that…can continue to support the programme in the future. (FROM A SUPPORTER & GUEST)
CONGRATULATIONS! I think the 'Attaining the Peak' programme is wonderful, and you did so much work, you gave so much. The testimonies of the people I spoke to, say a lot about how meaningful your work is. (FROM A GUEST)
…I think this reflects the steep learning curve that the facilitators also underwent! (FROM A FACILITATOR)
All the students spoke clearly, eloquently, and very movingly about their experiences on the course. Many of them expressed their desire that the course should continue so that other young people could receive the same benefit that they had done. Some of the students also praised their colleagues, showing that they had really noticed the difference the course had made to those around them, and not only to themselves. It was unbelievably rewarding to see even the shyest members of the group stand up in front of a large group (many of whom they didn’t know) and speak about their experiences so honestly. (FROM A FACILITATOR)
Yes, I’ve taught them, but they’ve taught me too. Yes, I’ve inspired them, but, wow, they’ve inspired me too! (FROM A FACILITATOR)
